Professionalization of Counseling – Questions and Theses

Abstract

The importance of counseling as a central kind of communication in the reflective modern society is increasing, some indications of an advanced professionalization can be identified, but some problems and lacks can be seen, too, which make further professionalization difficult. After an overview over the status of professionalization the as problematic estimated emerging fragmentation in different counseling professions and the problem of generating knowledge in and for counseling are mentioned and ideas of solving the problems are outlined.
