Abstract

Lecturers frequently have to deal with skepticism from undergraduates whilst teaching qualitative research methods. This skepticism either refers to the pluralistic claims of truth within the variety of social realities or to the analytic results of qualitative inquiries. Based on personal teaching experiences, this article tries to systematically summarize reservations that have been articulated by students and wants to further present didactic possibilities of rejoinders. The basis of these thoughts is an extensive reflection of the foundational principles of social sciences.

Jirko Piberger

Jirko Piberger, Erziehungswissenschaftler M.A., Erziehungs-, Politik- und Verwaltungswissenschaftler B.A. Derzeit als wissenschaftlicher Projektmitarbeiter am Institut für psychosoziale Intervention und Kommunikationsforschung an der Universität Innsbruck tätig. Zuvor dozierte er im Fachbereich Erziehungswissenschaft und Psychologie der Freien Universität Berlin zum wissenschaftlichen Arbeiten und Methoden der qualitativen Sozialforschung. Auf der Basis studentischer Evaluationsergebnisse wurde seine Lehre von der Ausbildungskommission wiederholt ausgezeichnet. Die Arbeitsschwerpunkte liegen in den Bereichen Bildungstheorie und qualitative (Kind--shy--heits-)Forschung.
