Abstract

In the specialist literature there is very little discussion on a psychoanalytical view of crisis intervention. This fact results mainly in the substantial difference of theory and practice of psychoanalysis and crisis intervention. The present publication draws the attention to such areas where a psychoanalytical approach – despite discrepancies – can provide important stimulation and enrichment for crisis intervention. On the other hand the publication clearly shows the limits of a psychoanalytical view in the field of crisis intervention. These questions are discussed referring to containing, transference and countertransference, the inclusion of unconscious aspects and by means of case studies of ambulant crisis intervention.
